Matalco is a leading producer in North America of high quality recycled aluminum slab and billet for the rolling, extrusion and forging industries using world class remelting technology. It operates six facilities in the United States and one in Canada with the capacity to produce approximately 1.8m pounds of recycled aluminum per annum.
Parterning with its shareholders Rio Tinto (50%) and Giampaolo Group (50%), Matalco delivers materials to its customers whilst enabling the worlds’ energy transition.
We are looking for a Plant Controller in Finance
who will be a key contributer to the Bluffton leadership team supporting the performance and growth of our operations. The main function of the role will be to offer insightful, timely and high quality monthly financials, analyses and recommendations that will support improvement of plant performance. The role will support the transformation of finance so as to be well positioned for growth oportunities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in management/cost accounting.
· With a strong business acumen and understanding of operations, review and analyze monthly business performance results
· Partner with plant managers to understand drivers of financial results while driving cost discipline and generating ideas to create value
· Involvement in the day to day decision making of supply chain optimization and the evaluation of business trade-offs
· Timely and accurate preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements, related analyses and reports
· Support in the development, implementation and maintainenance of accounting and reporting policies, practices and procedures and internal controls
· Provide support to other site controllers on day to day activities
· Ensure accounting records are in compliance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards)
· Prepare the annual budget (income statement, balance sheet, cash flows) in close collaboration with plant operators
· Prepare monthly forecasted results accompanied by insights that will support effective decision making
· Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P G/L, Inventory/Cost Accounting and Revenue Recognition (except where centralized at Corporate office)
· Support the preparation of the annual audited financial statements
· Relationship oriented with a focus on understanding the business and its operations
· Good professional and interpersonal abiliites including communication and stakeholder/change management skills

· Continuous improvement mindset over processes, procedures and systems
~8 years experience in a similar manufacturing industry
~ 8-10 years experience in a similar role; within a similar industry
· Ability to interpret financial statements, cost accounting, and evaluation of trade-offs
Collaborate with management to understand results, recommend improvements, manage projects, identify inefficiencies
Collaborate with other site controllers on all aspects of the finance function
Manage onsite review of financials ensuring efficient outcomes
6. Physical & Sensory Effort & Working Conditions
The role is at an operating site within normal office environment. Infrequent travel to other facililites and to Canada which will require a passport.
