Olympus Technical Services, Inc., an employee-owned environmental services firm specializing in hazardous waste site remediation, mine reclamation, environmental engineering, and emergency spill response is seeking a part-time/on call Environmental Driller and Equipment Operator to support our growing drilling program.
- Operation of a Geoprobe 7800 direct push drill rig;
- Advancement of soil borings and installation of monitoring wells;
- Drive medium to heavy duty trucks to various job sites as directed by supervisor;
- Load drilling, sampling and well installation tools and supplies onto trucks or drill rigs as directed by supervisor;
- Travel long distances while pulling trailers;
- Operation of macro-core and dual-tube sampling systems;
- Load injection tooling, hose, pumps and other equipment;
- Installation of remedial injection systems;
- Performs preventative maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisors and prepares documentation;
- Performs miscellaneous maintenance duties in field or shop as directed by supervisors;
- Mechanical ability to do minor repairs;
- Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections;
- Set up control zones;
- Perform physical labor, shoveling, drilling debris, lifting hoses and transporting materials using ergonomically correct lifting techniques;
- Knowledge of safety policies and procedures;
- Maintain all certifications; and,
- Ability to occasionally be on call for emergency response operations.
- High School Diploma or GED;
- One year of steady working experience as a driller in either environmental services, geotechnical, construction, or other drilling services;
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds throughout the day;
- Mechanical capabilities;
- Able to think quickly while working in an ever-changing field environment;
- 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations (HAZWOPER) preferred, but not necessary for qualified individual;
- Possess valid driver's license and maintain clean driving record with no DUIs or other excessive or major violations;
- Must be able to pass a background check;
- Submit to and pass, without restrictions, a pre-placement physical exam and drug and alcohol screening, and random drug and alcohol screening; and,
- This is field position and requires travel to job sites throughout the region, Mon-Fri, primarily in Idaho. Emergency response services may require weekend travel.
- Hourly
- Overtime pay 1.5 times hourly wage
- Work Days are generally Monday - Friday.
