Provide technical work in the operations, maintenance and construction of transmission, distribution, and substation projects on MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system. Apply complex electric operating principles and practices in the following areas: scheduling of multiple construction projects, writing and field administration of construction contracts, monitoring contactor's work as to quality and quantity, assuring safe work policies and practices, reviewing invoicing for approval, administering change of work orders, coordinating problem solving due to job site conditions; and providing supporting documentation. Also coordinate contractor's work that requires electric system outages by submitting work requests and being the person responsible for the issued clearances. Conduct aerial and foot patrol inspections of the electric transmission, distribution, and substation system. Communicate and track conditions requiring remediation to MidAmerican Energy Company engineering, operations or contractors. Coordinate electric transmission patrols conducted by contractors, review patrols for action items and forward records from high voltage line inspections for review and retention. Coordinate contractor operations, maintenance and construction work, including storm restoration work. With education and/or experience, provides leadership in the areas of special projects, complex designs or construction methods, unique project features or materials and the management of contract or consultant construction observers.
Provide complex operation services for the planning, design and construction of project additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system. (45%)
Provide technical project management for all construction phases of a project, or similar contractor activities, including scheduling, design, construction to estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, writing and implementing construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections. (35%)
Conduct technical studies and investigations and prepares oral and written reports. (5%)
Identify, develop and implement engineering initiatives to increase project safety, efficiency and cost savings. (5%)
Provides technical leadership to staff and technical input to assist in development of project planning. (5%)
Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of human performance improvement techniques.
Bachelor's degree in a technical related field or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
