A growing clean energy company is seeking a Software Engineer to build and maintain digital tools that power its solar and battery storage projects. The role sits at the intersection of software, engineering, and operations, enabling better monitoring, data insight, and project execution.
Working closely with project, operations, and engineering teams, this role focuses on developing software that supports system monitoring, data analytics, and workflow automation. The ideal candidate enjoys solving practical problems, turning data into actionable information, and contributing to the transition to clean energy.
Role is based in Honolulu and requires local applicants.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications that support project design, monitoring, and day-to-day operations.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable, reliable software solutions.
- Build and maintain dashboards and visualization tools that provide real-time insight into solar PV and energy storage system performance.
- Integrate data streams from field hardware, sensors, and third-party APIs to enhance performance analysis and reporting.
- Automate workflows related to project management, procurement, and commissioning to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Apply security and performance best practices to ensure applications are robust, secure, and responsive.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and production issues in a timely manner.
- Stay current on modern software development tools, frameworks, and trends, with an eye on their application in the renewable energy space.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3 years of professional software development experience.
- Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python or JavaScript (e.g., Node.js, React, or similar frameworks).
- Experience working with cloud services (such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and relational or NoSQL databases.
- Exposure to IoT concepts, data integration, or real-time data processing is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, and a proactive approach to learning and adopting new technologies.
- Interest in renewable energy, sustainability, and building tools that support decarbonization efforts.
