The Director of Store Planning will lead the design and layout strategy for retail locations across Hawaii. This role is responsible for creating innovative, customer-focused environments that reflect brand standards, maximize operational efficiency, and support long-term business growth. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with hands-on project management and a strong understanding of retail design and construction.
- Develop and implement store planning strategies for new builds, remodels, and relocations.
- Ensure designs enhance customer experience and align with brand identity.
- Manage all phases of store planning projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and vendor coordination.
- Build strong relationships with architects, designers, contractors, and internal teams.
- Create layouts that optimize space utilization, merchandising flow, and operational performance.
- Incorporate sustainability and energy efficiency into design standards.
- Partner with merchandising, operations, and marketing teams to ensure store design supports business objectives.
- Maintain compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and accessibility requirements.
- Prepare and manage capital budgets for store planning projects.
- Negotiate contracts and monitor cost control measures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Management, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in retail store planning, design, or construction management (grocery experience preferred).- Proven ability to manage large-scale projects and budgets.
- Strong knowledge of retail design principles, building codes, and permitting processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software.
