Endeavour’s GigaGrid product group has an exciting opportunity for a Product Scale Up Engineer. In this position you will work directly with the research and development team and be responsible for end-to-end product life-cycle management, manufacturing, testing and managing strategic relationships. We are looking for a leader who will help shape the cutting-edge, modular hardware building blocks that shape the distributed, edge-compute driven clean energy applications within GigaGrid. As a Product Scale Up Engineer, you will be directly responsible for the successful manufacturing and execution of clean tech products with cutting edge-power electronics that support distributed solar and battery storage applications and next generation of grid monitoring sensors and EV charging equipment.
The Product Scale Up Engineer needs to be agile, professional, and comfortable in a rapidly changing environment. The right person is trustworthy with confidential information, highly organized, self-motivated, has excellent communication skills, can think strategically, and works equally as well independently as with a team. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•Lead the manufacturing and ramp up efforts across different phases of the product development process.
•Coordinate and manage strategic relationships between GigaGrid and various vendors and manufacturing partners.
•Lead and implement the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process and manage product literature (cut sheets, specifications, datasheets, assembly drawings etc.).
•Lead supply chain management and risk mitigation efforts.
•Support the design team in compliance and certification efforts.
•Develop end of line testing capability, QA/QC checks and documentation processes.
•Support the Hardware development team in design, prototyping, product qualification and general engineering efforts.
•Work and support cross-functional teams of hardware, firmware, software and mechanical engineers throughout the engineering and system integration efforts.
•Help validate firmware/embedded software for different hardware products.
•Participate in engineering design reviews before releases at various stages.
•Take ownership of designs, and manage individual tasks, deadlines, and deliverables.
•Travel for 5-10% of the time.
Skills & Requirements
•Minimum B.S. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent. Master’s or other advanced degrees preferred.
•2-5 years of experience in design, fabrication and testing of electrical/electronic hardware for embedded systems, power electronics, networking equipment, sensors, automotive electronics, robotics, or equivalent.
•Experience in hardware architecture, printed circuit board design, board bring-up and prototyping with new product introduction experience.
•Circuit design proficiency –
•Schematic capture and eCAD using Eagle, Cadence, OrCAD, Altium or equivalent.
•Multi-layer Printed circuit board (PCB) layout design.
•DFM techniques, best practices for manufacturability, PCB stack ups, BOM management, production runs etc.
•PCB technologies, such as rigid, hybrid, HDI, etc.
•Component selection, such as passives, connectors, cables, etc.
•Working knowledge of Mechanical Engineering concepts, ability to read and understand drawings, handle CAD files (Solidworks or equivalent) and work with manufacturers.
•Experience in reliability engineering, root cause analysis, failure mode & effects analysis.
•Strong understanding of –
•Analog and digital circuit design – Op-Amps, MOSFETs, switching regulators, gate drivers, data converters (ADCs/DACs) etc.
•Best practices for signal integrity, high speed interconnects, communication links (e.g. – SPI, I2C, UART) EMI/EMC etc.
•Power electronics, switching power converters, topologies, devices, power dissipation, thermal management
•Hands-on experience with EE lab equipment like O’scopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzer, signal generators, power supplies, load banks etc.
•Ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary, cross functional teams.
•Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Specific Skills / Abilities
•Past experience with onboarding and managing PLM tools (e.g. Arena, Duro, SAP etc.)
•Ability to develop QA/QC processes, best practices and onboarding manufacturing partners to deliver on said targets.
•Experience in driving certification and compliance efforts against relevant UL, IEC, NEC, IEEE standards.
•Project and product management experience is a plus.
•Experience with standard networking protocols like WiFi, BLE, Cellular communications.
•Experience with modelling and simulation tools like Simulink, SPICE, etc.
•Experience with multi-core processor systems, SoC, MPUs etc.
•Knowledge of basic control theory and experience with programming languages for firmware and scripting – C, C++, Python, MATLAB.
•Working knowledge of high voltage and high-power systems is a plus.
•Experience with Lithium-ion batteries, battery management systems etc. is a plus.
