Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools.
Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, and belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, and performing other preventive maintenance actions.
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices.
Calibrate instrumentation associated with process and lab equipment to include: Mass flow, Magnetic Flow, Density, Level, Pressure, Temperature, Weigh Belts
Install electrical and instrumentation equipment in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Mine Safety and Health Act (MSHA) Regulations.
Ensure work orders entered in the maintenance request system (SAP Maintenance) are managed to control/prevent backlog of Mechanical and Electrical service requests.
Plan jobs and give time and cost estimates to the planner and Supervisor.
Guide the work of less experienced maintenance technicians to ensure safety procedures are followed.
Wear appropriate personal safety protection, follow prescribed procedures, and maintain a clean and safe work area.
Follow all Environmental, Health, Safety policies to include but not limited to Confined Space Entry, Lock-Out Tag-Out, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, Machine Guarding/Conveyer Safety, Mobile Equipment Safety, Housekeeping, Fatigue Management. Reference Imerys Kaolin Safety & Health Manual.

Reports to supervisor, takes corrective action, and alerts the appropriate person(s) when quality standards are not met and are outside of this position's control.
Will not compromise quality and safety for quantity.
Measurements Performed/Tools & Gauges: Pressure/gauges; rpm's/strobe light; temperature/°F and thermometers; torque/torque meters. Resistance/ohmeter; power condition/power factor meter; wattage/wattmeter; amperage/amp meter; voltage/voltage meter; temperature/thermocouple; temperature/resistive temperature device (rtd); millivolt, milli-amp, a.c. volts, d.c. volts/multi-meter.
Machines & Equipment Involved: Hand and power tools, welding, cutting torch, calipers, forklift, hydralift, and crane. All process and lab equipment, including Allen Bradley programmable logic controllers, Dell Desktop Computers, Ethernet hubs/switches, Motor Control Centers (MCCs), Transformers, MV and LV Switchgear, electronic and pneumatic instrumentation, hardwired control,
Working Conditions: Normally, day shift work hours require some overtime (may be assigned to other shifts as needed). Work performed mostly outdoors with exposure to seasonal temperature variations. Work requires climbing to heights of 100 feet., operating motorized equipment, working around moving machinery and equipment, and on slippery surfaces. Exposed to noise, dust, fumes, chemicals, allergens, and radiation.
Preferred: previous work experience - work-related skill, knowledge, or experience in maintenance. Multi-crafts industrial mechanic/electrician. Completion of the previous level of Maintenance Technician/Multi-Craft Technician on-the-job experience and successful training, or equivalent experience. Working knowledge of Blunger, Centrifuges, Degritting, Screening, Spray Dryer, Calciner, and Bagging Equipment.
Skills Requirement: Able to understand written and verbal instructions and listen attentively requiring knowledge of structure/content of English language; read and understand blueprints, designs and operation of complex production systems; clearly describe conditions orally and in writing; analyze and resolve minor process problems; set-up, manipulate and tend equipment and or machinery; drive motorized vehicles; have valid drivers license. Have working knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance; working knowledge of electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
Required Activities: Climbing, lifting, finger dexterity, close and tedious hand and finger movement in hazardous locations.
