AirJoule is seeking a Field Service Applications Engineer to join the APPS team (applications, process, performance, and systems), which focuses on having real-world impact with our customers. AirJoule technology dehumidifies air with record-breaking energy efficiency, and then converts it into pure water. The role of the Field Service Engineer is essential for success of the technology, because it connects new product development and applications with customer pilots trials. This role will be involved with all aspects of field deployments of AirJoule systems and subcomponents, including understanding customer objectives, AirJoule value prop, system performance and controls, and all practical aspects of field deployments (electrical, power, infrastructure requirements, field service and repairs, technical customer interactions).This assignment will be located at AirJoule’s headquarters in Newark, DE, and will involve up to a significant amount of travel (more than 50%, up to full time).

- Become an expert on full operation and construction of AirJoule systems.
- Travel to customer sites and support field deployments of AirJoule prototypes, including set-up and demonstration of technology, performing field maintenance, and guiding customers in maintenance and optimization of device performance.
- Act as customer liaison for identification of new opportunities and design of testing campaigns so that our customer’s needs are most adequately met, and feedback is shared with AirJoule product development.
- Work with the Applications Engineering team to design customer-specific models to ensure success of AirJoule field deployments.
- Implementation of supporting technologies which enable AirJoule field deployments at customer sites, such as alternative power systems and heat transfer systems.
- Work within Applications Engineering team to develop and implement QC testing and troubleshooting protocols, and perform comparisons in the field versus prior to release.
- Use various failure mode analysis tools (fishbone diagrams, etc…) to determine root cause of failures in the field and develop solutions.
- Document experimental results in the form of PowerPoint presentations, technical report documents, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) entries.
- Train new employees in the responsibilities listed herein and similar work.
- Uphold a safe, respectful, collaborative, inclusive, and appreciative team environment.
- Work with APPS and Business Development team to perform site surveys and assess customer opportunities.- Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience, in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or related field.
- Experience with running and assembling multicomponent mechanical, electrical, and/or chemical systems, such as ‘rigs’, reactors, medical testing devices, automotives, technical prototypes, etc… including knowledge of safe operating methods
- Experience with basic electrical wiring and repairs
- Experience with troubleshooting, causal analysis, and/or diagnostic and performance reviews
- Comfort with significant travel (both domestic and international) and ‘street smarts’ for navigating new locations in order to facilitate pull set up and execution of field deployments.
- Excellent organization skills and ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems, including pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, fans, motors, and HVAC systems
