Position Overview
Summary: As Plant Manager, you will be responsible for the execution of operational strategies to meet business objectives including developing a zero-injury work culture, achieving quality and output goals, and driving continuous improvement and 5S plant organization.
Essential Functions
•Ensure that safety is a primary focus, and that all potential risks are reduced to as low as reasonably achievable through regular review and update of safety procedures based on suggestions, near misses, incidents and new developments.
•Strive to continuously improve production processes through the application of lean manufacturing tools and techniques such as waste analysis, kaizen, 5S, SMED and six-sigma.
•Create and post production schedules and daily goals, ensure that these goals are met, and optimize resource allocation.
•Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate operational efficiency and take necessary actions for improvement.
•Manage labor, equipment, and materials to ensure smooth production processes.
•Assist in developing and implementing operational strategies, budgets, policies, and procedures.
•Instill discipline and accountability and provide coaching to Supervisors, Leads and other production staff, ensuring they take ownership, and understand their roles and responsibilities.
•Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and problem solving.
•Promote clear communication by cascading down information and ensuring that pre-shift and post-shift meetings are effectively conducted.
•Foster people development through setting of expectations, coaching, motivating, and delivering candid feedback on performance.
•Ensure an ongoing schedule to provide training and development for production staff to enhance and certify their skills and knowledge.
•Participate in recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluation of manufacturing staff.
•Monitor and maintain high-quality standards for the product produced.
•Effectively collaborate with Sales, Customer Fulfillment, Finance and in other cross-functional teams to streamline processes, optimize resource allocation and ensure goals are met.
•Identify major cost drivers within the operation and work to minimize.
•Continuously look for ways to streamline production processes to reduce risk, improve quality and increase productivity.
•Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and safety protocols.
•Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with relevant departments to maintain adequate stock levels.
•Manage the maintenance and utilization of manufacturing equipment, machinery, and facilities using preventive and predictive maintenance regimes.
•Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in operations management.
•Adhere to relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols to ensure that work meets legal and regulatory requirements.
•Confirm compliance with required certifications or reporting.
•Follow company rules and guidelines.
•Other duties may be assigned as needed.

The Plant Manager role requires a combination of manufacturing operations expertise, leadership skills, and business acumen.
Technical proficiency: Strong background in manufacturing operation principles, including knowledge of various manufacturing processes, such as machining, assembly, fabrication, and automation. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations is also important.
Leadership and management: Possess strong leadership skills essential to motivate and guide others, ability to set strategic goals, and make informed decisions. Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with others.
Strategic thinking: Ability to develop and implement manufacturing strategies to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality. Able to analyze complex problems, identify opportunities for process optimization, and develop innovative solutions. Strategic planning and the ability to align manufacturing goals with overall business objectives are crucial.
Project management: Manufacturing operation involves overseeing projects related to process improvement, cost reduction, preparing operations for new product introduction, and facility expansion. Strong project management skills are necessary to define project scope, allocate resources, establish timelines, and ensure successful execution within budget.
Continuous improvement: Possess a strong focus on continuous improvement. Ability to implement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other quality improvement frameworks to drive efficiency, eliminate waste, and enhance product quality.
Problem-solving and troubleshooting: Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions is crucial. Possess strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to think analytically and make data-driven decisions.
Communication and interpersonal skills: Effective communication is vital to interact with others including production employees, senior management, auditor, and to support customer visits. Ability to train, develop and report to others in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in written reports. Strong interpersonal skills are also important for building relationships, resolving conflicts, and fostering collaboration across different teams.
Business acumen: Advance knowledge of the business aspects of manufacturing operations. This includes budgeting, cost management, resource allocation, and risk assessment. Strong understanding of market trends, industry competition, and regulatory requirements to make informed decisions that align with the company's strategic objectives.

Requirements / Training and Experience
•5 + years of advanced knowledge and experience of manufacturing operations management.
•Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
•Proven experience in operations management or a similar role.
•Strong leadership and managerial skills with the ability to motivate, guide, train and develop a team.
•Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
•Sound knowledge of operational processes, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
•Proficiency in using productivity tools, such as project management software, spreadsheets, and databases.
•Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
•Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
•Strong project management experience with manufacturing engineering projects.
•Experience working with cross-functional teams, managing budgets and resources, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope.
•Experience in continuous improvement methodologies; Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Total Quality Management.

Work Environment
The Plant Manager position works primarily on the manufacturing floor. The Plant Manager will be required to troubleshoot production or maintenance issues, or assess material or tooling quality and performance. Occupational health and safety practices are essential in manufacturing environments and all employees are expected to adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate protective equipment when necessary.
