The CNC Operator plays a critical role in the fabrication process of custom signs. This position is responsible
for setting up, programming, operating, and maintaining CNC routing equipment to cut, shape, and finish sign
components with precision. The ideal candidate will have experience in CNC machinery within a
manufacturing environment, preferably in signage, woodworking, or plastics.
- Operate CNC routers and related machinery to cut materials such as acrylic, aluminum, wood, PVC, and
- Interpret shop drawings provided by the design team.
- Set up tooling, fixtures, and materials on the CNC machine bed.
- Load programs into the CNC controller (e.g., EnRoute).
- Monitor machine operations and make adjustments to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
- Inspect finished components for accuracy using measuring tools and quality control methods.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and ensure proper function and cleanliness.
- Collaborate with designers, fabricators, and installers to ensure parts are produced to exact standards.
- Maintain inventory of CNC materials, bits, and supplies.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- 2+ years of experience operating CNC machinery in a manufacturing environment (sign industry preferred).
- Strong understanding of machine setup, G-code, and tool path generation.
- Experience with sign-making materials and finishes (acrylic, aluminum, Dibond, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics.
- Excellent attention to detail, quality-focused, and capable of working under deadlines.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Knowledge of ADA and architectural signage standards.
