Gridwise Engineering is a small but growing power engineering consultancy, based in Metro Vancouver area delivering engineering services to power utility and industrial clients in Canada.
We are currently looking for an Electrical P&C Engineer-in-Training focusing on substation protection and control (P&C) design. If you are self-driven and have a keen interest in electrical power systems and relaying, this is the opportunity for you. You will have the opportunity to work alongside a very talented and experienced group of professional engineers and develop your skills as a young engineer. Our team of engineers are known in the industry in BC and beyond for their considerable knowledge.
This role offers early exposure in a growing power engineering consultancy, with exciting opportunities and large growth potential as the company expands. You will work across a range of utility and industrial projects, gaining incredible experience and developing strong technical skills.
- You will be supporting our senior engineers to develop P&C design for power utility and industrial substations from voltage levels ranging from 25kV to 230kV.
- You will prepare engineering drawings such as P&C panel layouts, AC & DC schematics, wiring diagrams and cable schedules under the direction of senior engineers.
- You will have the opportunity to travel to client sites across Canada and panel shops for engineering site visits and factory acceptance tests.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in protection and control design in a utility or industrial environment, with voltages of 25kV and above.
- 3-5 years of engineering work experience in protection and control design is preferred.
- Electrical Engineering Degree from a recognized university along with an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation or the ability to register as an EIT with EGBC
- Proficiency in using AutoCAD for design and drafting will be considered favourably
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A valid BC class 5 drivers license
- Ability to work in a team environment and on their own initiative as required
