Clean Energy Consulting (CEC) is a well-established BC company with offices in BC and the Yukon, dedicated to building outstanding projects. CEC is currently looking for a Distribution Line Engineer/Technologist to join the team. This position will be primarily focused on providing distribution line engineering services to our clients in the Renewable Energy, Utility, and Mining sectors. The ideal candidate will be a graduate of an accredited engineering program, experience in overhead T&D design would be beneficial. They should have a robust understanding of engineering principles, and a willingness to learn transmission and distribution engineering design practices through diverse and challenging projects. They should also be striving to increase their knowledge in technical and business systems.
- Provide distribution line engineering and design services.
- Provide distribution engineering services by connecting with clients including client management, preparing proposals, etc.
- Prepare design drawings, specifications, spreadsheets, and design calculations.
- Prepare construction work packages.
- Meet with clients to discuss their projects.
- Interface with clients, contractors, and vendors as required for various tasks.
- Travel to project sites will be required.
- Engage in business development activities and contribute to growing the company.
- Possess a civil, mechanical, or similar engineering degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Registered or eligible for registration with EGBC (as an EIT or P.Eng.), ASTTBC, or relevant technologist organization.
- Direct experience with overhead T&D line design is required, particularly with overhead distribution line design.
- A general understanding of the electrical principles associated with high voltage T&D lines and power systems.
- Ability to produce high-quality technical documents such as design basis documents, reports, and specifications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, a high level of initiative, a strong work ethic, and the ability to be coached.
- Familiarity with overhead line design principles, such as the basic structural and mechanical engineering principles related to these installations.
- Knowledge of and ability to use PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and/or PLS-TOWER would be an asset. In addition, any knowledge of and ability to use other distribution line design tools (e.g. Spidacalc) would be an asset.
- Experience in producing engineering design drawings/documents.
- A strong foundation in statics, able to conceptualize and analyze structural forces, reactions, and deflections.
The successful candidate will report to the CEC Power Delivery Team Lead. The Power Delivery team is based in Vancouver, BC. The office building features brand new amenities including a state-of-the-art fitness facility, sky-view rooftop deck, secure bike room, and access to the Canada Line and Pacific Centre.
