Lead and supervise the activities of the Transmission and Substation Engineering staff support the activities of the Transmission Maintenance staff and support AEPCO Transmission planning needs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The minimum requirements of knowledge and previous experience necessary for an individual to be considered for this position.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of five years actual experience in designing high voltage (69, 115, 230 and 345 kV) substations.
- Two years of management experience or completion of two-year succession management program.
- Professional Engineering license in the state of Arizona.
- Understanding or knowledge of all areas of substation and transmission engineering design and construction.
- Complete and thorough understanding of IEEE/ANSI, NEC Standards.

ESSENTIAL:
The major activities for which this position is held accountable.- Provide leadership and direction to a team of professionals who are responsible for engineering design, maintenance support, and project management.
- Appraise performance, mentor, guide professional development, communicate expectations, address employee relations issues, and resolve problems and approve HR actions.
- Supervise and coordinate third-party engineering consulting contract activities, projects and tasks.
- Support transmission system development and interconnect request activities. Ensure quality and timeliness of engineering services.
- Develop design drawings and prepare specifications for all types of substation and transmission equipment and construction contracts.
- Ensures accurate cost accounting for all projects.
- Provide timely construction activity reports to AEPCO Management and Board.
- Interface and coordinate with other project participants, i.e. departments, Coop Members, utilities, agencies, and contractors.
- Complete as-built documentation and RUS closeout forms at the completion of project.
- Manages changes and evidence related to NERC standards and associated requirements as related to facilities ratings and methodologies.
- Performs primary interviewee functions related to NERC compliance audits for delegated requirements.
