The Slotter Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining slotting machinery to ensure efficient production and quality outcomes. This role involves setting up, troubleshooting, and repairing slotting equipment, requiring a thorough understanding of machine mechanics and strong problem-solving skills. The technician works independently and in coordination with supervisors to meet production targets and maintain equipment functionality.
- Slot parts according to production schedules and specifications, ensuring accurate and timely outputs.
- Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on slotting equipment to keep machines in optimal working condition, addressing wear and neglected areas as needed.
- Set up and calibrate slotting machines for each production run, ensuring all parts meet required specifications and quality standards.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain workflow efficiency.
- Collaborate with the team to quickly address and solve production-related challenges, using flexible thinking and hands-on troubleshooting.
- Identify and report recurring issues, recommending long-term solutions or equipment updates.
- Prioritize repair and maintenance tasks to ensure that the slotting machine operates efficiently and to avoid delays in production schedules.
- Complete scheduled repairs and as-needed adjustments, balancing urgent repairs with planned maintenance work.
- Perform quality checks on slotted parts to verify adherence to specifications regarding part length and quantity.
- Regularly review slotting output to identify areas of improvement and implement necessary adjustments to meet production standards.
- Tools Used Daily:
- Slotting machines, various hand tools, and repair equipment.
- Proficiency in these tools is essential for effective repairs and adjustments.
- Essential Skills:
- Mechanical knowledge of slotting equipment, including setup, operation, and repair.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Flexibility and adaptability in addressing machine issues and prioritizing tasks under pressure.
- Able to read blueprints, use calipers, and tape measure.
- Education and Certifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- No specific certifications are required, but familiarity with equipment and safety protocols is beneficial.
- Environment:
- Physical demands include frequent bending, lifting, and adjusting machinery.
- The technician must be comfortable working in various positions to access and repair machine components.
- Team Structure:
- Primarily works independently on assigned tasks but communicates directly with supervisors to ensure alignment with production goals.
- Goals and Targets:
- Performance is measured by part quality, production quantity, and the ability to maintain consistent machine functionality.
- Meeting production quotas related to the quantity and accuracy of slotted parts is essential.
- Common Challenges:
- Repairing and maintaining equipment that may be outdated or have long-standing issues.

- Initial Training:
