Founded in 1945 by A. D. West and M. E. Erickson, West Tree Service, a Gunnison Company, has been a trusted provider of Right of Way (ROW) utility maintenance services. We specialize in vegetation management, including tree trimming and removal, herbicide application, and mowing. Our clients include Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs) like Entergy and OG&E, Cooperatives, Municipalities, and gas pipeline companies. Most of our management team and supervisors are certified by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), promoting professional arboriculture practices.

Mechanic Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and dependable Mechanic to join our team, responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of tree service vehicles and equipment. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of both gas and diesel-powered equipment used for client services. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and experience working on a variety of vehicles and machinery, including trucks, chippers, and other tree care equipment. This role is vital to keeping our operations running smoothly and minimizing downtime.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair work on tree service vehicles, including trucks, chippers, stump grinders, and other equipment.
- Schedule and perform preventive maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, brake checks, tire rotations, and fluid replacements.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues, identify problems, and perform repairs to ensure vehicles and equipment are safe and operational.
- Conduct regular inspections of vehicles and equipment to identify potential issues and prevent breakdowns.
- Maintain and repair specialized tree care equipment, such as aerial lifts, chainsaws, and other tools used on job sites.
- Keep track of necessary parts, tools, and supplies, and ensure they are readily available for repairs and maintenance.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair work performed on vehicles and equipment.
- Proven experience as a mechanic, with at least 3-5 years in vehicle and equipment repair, preferably in the tree service, construction, or landscaping industries.
- Qualifications including diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, Brake Inspector certification, and DOT driver preferred.
- Must be able to ensure all maintenance work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, diagnostics, and repair techniques for both vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to work closely with the operations team to schedule vehicle repairs to minimize downtime and maintain workflow.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Must have own tools (some specialized tools can be provided).
