Role Overview
This role focuses heavily on
API and automation testingwithin a Java-based environment. The QA Automation Tester will validate application code prior to deployment by manually testing APIs in Postman and converting those tests into a
Rest Assured Java frameworkintegrated into the CI/CD pipeline. Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with developers are critical.
This is a
contract-to-permanentopportunity (preferred), though strong contract-only or direct-hire candidates may be considered.
- Design and lead the
automated testing strategy
for Motion applications
- Develop, execute, and maintain
automated test suites
(API + UI)- Manually validate APIs using
Postman
, then convert tests into
Rest Assured (Java)
for pipeline deployment
- Collaborate with developers to:
- Understand system logic
- Diagnose test failures
- Assign stable DOM identifiers for UI automation
- Execute regression, unit, and performance testing across test and production environments
- Log defects, document results, and provide
daily and release-based test reports
- Ensure compliance with:
- SDLC best practices
- OWASP Top 10 security principles
- Internal QA policies and procedures
- Support a
bi-weekly release cycle
- Mentor junior QA team members and recommend QA process improvements
- Research and evaluate new automation tools
- Communicate testing status clearly to QA leadership, developers, and project managers- 8+ years
as a QA professional
- 5+ yearsin automation, system design, or software development
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Java
- Rest Assured
- Postman
- Selenium
- SQL
- Experience coding API tests and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines
- Strong understanding of:
- Relational databases
- Structured development and change control methodologies
- Excellent
verbal and written English communication skills

- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment
- BS degree
- QA/Test certifications (CSTE, CAST, CSQA, CASQ)
