Position Summary

Are you looking for an exciting new career opportunity with opportunities to grow and develop your skills? Morskate Manufacturing is currently recruiting a motivated Yard Laborer to join our dynamic team of professionals.

Reporting to the Yard Foreman, you will be part of the yard crew responsible for maintaining an organized, efficient, and safe yard environment. This role supports daily yard operations including material handling, organizing steel materials, and ensuring the yard remains clean and well maintained.

This role plays an important part in ensuring materials are handled properly and are ready for fabrication and shipment. If you are a hardworking, safety-focused individual who enjoys hands-on work and being part of a team, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities

- Assist the yard crew with daily yard operations and material handling

- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment at all times

- Organize steel materials, pallets, and equipment in designated storage areas

- Assist with staging materials for fabrication and upcoming projects

- Move and position materials safely using forklifts or by assisting equipment operators (training provided if required)

- Ensure materials are stored in proper locations for easy identification and access

- Label, sort, and organize materials by project, size, and type when required

- Maintain clear walkways and safe work areas by removing scrap, debris, and unused materials

- Assist with inventory counts and help track materials within the yard

- Work closely with the shop and yard team to ensure materials are available when needed

- Report damaged materials, safety concerns, or equipment issues to supervisors

Requirements/Qualifications

- Previous experience in construction, manufacturing, or yard work is an asset

- Forklift experience is considered an asset (training may be provided)

- Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physically demanding work

- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions

- Strong work ethic and reliability

- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team

- Basic communication and organizational skills

- Safety-conscious mindset

- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English clearly

Health & Safety Responsibilities

- Active participation in company safety program

- Follow safety protocol including wearing of required PPE and understanding and application of safety policies, procedures and practices

We offer competitive starting wages beginning at $20-24 per hour, with final rates determined by your experience, skill level, qualification and how well you align with the role.
