The Top Drive Technician is responsible for the day-to-day duties of regular maintenance of Top Drives, studying specific problems, and taking corrective actions to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain PD Top Drives.

Day In The Life
- Reading diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
- Operating rig equipment and dollies to place heavy machinery and parts
- Fitting bearings, aligning gears and shafts, attaching motors
- Align and test equipment, making any necessary adjustments
- Performing preventive and operational maintenance and repairing or replacing defective parts when necessary
- Provide technical support and guidance to the field personnel for the inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of Top Drives
- Maintain standard inspection and repair procedures for the Top Drives
- Ensure that proper fuels, lubricants, pressures, power, and parts are used on the equipment
- Participating in on-call and overtime as required, with regular travel to field locations
- A high school diploma is required
- Must have a valid vehicle operations license (abstract required)
- 5-7 years' experience working with drilling rig equipment
- Ability to multitask, find solutions, and establish priorities
- Have a sound knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems
- Have the physical strength required to work with heavy equipment
- Exemplary safety skills, both written and verbal
