Since September 2009, Whitecap has experienced remarkable growth, increasing production from 850 boe/d to over 365,000 boe/d. We have unconventional and conventional assets exclusively focused in Western Canada and the asset base includes the Weyburn EOR Project. As a majority owner and operator of the Weyburn EOR Project, annually we safely sequester approximately 1.5 million tonnes of CO 2 making it a unique project within our portfolio. We currently employ 1,200 people, including our valued contract staff.

The Surface Land Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the company’s operations by managing and coordinating a wide range of surface land activities. This position requires strong knowledge of Alberta Crown surface land acquisition, land administration, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder relations. The successful candidate will work closely with the internal asset team and external stakeholders—including landowners, regulators, and industry partners, to ensure effective land management and smooth execution of projects. This role is well‑suited for a collaborative, organized individual who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is committed to fostering positive relationships.
This is a temporary role for a period of 13 months
- Coordinate an Alberta Crown area for Whitecap Resources.
- Coordinate and manage acquisitions of surface land rights including well sites, pipelines, road use, damages, and other surface related matters.
- Provide project status updates to asset team(s) for drilling, facilities, production and remediation projects.
- Identify and communicate potential delays and impacts to project timelines.
- Adhere to regulatory and/or legal requirements in our operating areas.
- Audit and prepare construction packages.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date land records, databases (Land Rite, StackDX), and documentation, ensuring compliance with company polices and regulatory requirements.
- Daily maintenance of files including renewals, amendments and reclamation certificates.
- Assist with acquisitions or divestments.
- Maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Minimum 10 years of surface land acquisition (Alberta Crown) experience.
- Post-secondary education in a land related discipline is preferred.
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Positive attitude and ability to self-motivate.
- Exceptional relationship-building capabilities and a collaborative working style.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Land Rite (Pandell), Stack DX, ETS, SPIN, OpenInvoice, Qbyte, OneStop, AbaData and Outlook.
