Position Summary:
The Shop Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and preparation of safety equipment used in field operations. This includes SCBA/SABA systems, gas detection equipment, air trailers, and other safety-related gear. The role ensures that all equipment leaving the shop meets Trojan Safety’s quality, safety, and operational standards
- Inspect, clean, service, and prepare air trailers for field deployment and return.
- Perform minor repairs and component replacements on air trailers and support systems.
- Conduct detailed inspections of SCBA/SABA units, ensuring compliance with manufacturer and regulatory standards.
- Calibrate, test, and maintain gas detection and monitoring equipment (portable and fixed systems).
- Record maintenance activities and service reports accurately in the company database or logs.
- Prepare and organize equipment for dispatch to job sites.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment at all times.
- Monitor inventory levels of parts, consumables, and tools; report shortages to the Shop Supervisor.
- Ensure tools and equipment are used properly, stored correctly, and maintained in good working order.
- Assist with loading and unloading vehicles and trailers.
- Support logistics for mobilization/demobilization of safety units and field equipment.
- Follow Trojan Safety Services’ safety protocols, procedures, and policies.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on all equipment prior to release.
- Identify and report any safety hazards, defective tools, or non-conforming equipment.
- Participate in shop safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Assist Field Technicians as needed with equipment preparation or troubleshooting.
- Support training of new shop staff on proper cleaning, testing, and maintenance procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Branch Manager.
- Must live in or near Grande Prairie, AB.
- Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in maintenance, repair, or technical roles preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract.
- Previous experience with safety or industrial equipment (SCBA, gas detection, air trailers) considered an asset.
