Role: A Safety & HR Coordinator possesses the education, experience and knowledge required to manage RPB’s general Human Resources needs and COR certified safety program.
A Safety & HR Coordinator conduct themselves as a positive, reasonable, and knowledgeable resource to enhance RPB’s safety culture, who is additionally responsible to recruit and hire qualified personnel.
A Safety & HR Coordinator has exceptional communication and time management skills, an ability to apply critical thinking skills to analyze issues, establish root causes, and arrive at and apply practical, solutions-based corrective actions to diminish the potential for recurrence.
A Safety & HR Coordinator is also responsible for maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information, when encountered.
A Safety & HR Coordinator, through communication, collaboration, and periodic site presence is responsible for helping to ensure that the activities undertaken at the worksite comply with all legislative duties, company policies, practices and procedures.
The position requires some travel (less than 10 percent) to visit active work locations and conduct safety related tasks.
Safety Certifications / Training to Start Work:

Safety Certifications to be Obtained Within First 90 Days:
- Ensure all subcontractors to be utilized have a complete, up-to-date, onboarding package according to company requirements.
- Track subcontractor status and request, receive and file updated pre-qualification documents, as required.
- Responsible for new employee onboarding, facilitating and ensuring completion of orientations, completion and submission of all onboarding documentation requirements and filing of same.
- Responsible for occasional review and provision of feedback to field personnel on daily tailgate meetings, field level hazard assessments, site inspections, incident reporting measures and investigations.
- Act as a professional resource for all RPB owners, managers, supervisors, workers, visitors, and sub-contractors.
- Management and maintenance of safety prequalification sites including Avetta, IsNetworld, and ComplyWorks accounts in satisfactory status.
- Responsible for planning, creating and preparing, and delivering monthly safety meeting PowerPoint to entire company in person and to crews in other cities and provinces via Teams.
- · Responsible for the collection and review of documentation, and the compilation and analysis of safety statistics monthly and resenting findings to the team on an ongoing basis at Monthly Safety Meetings.
- Responsible for conducting and documenting incident investigations including interviews and reviews of witness statements and photographs.
- Responsible for conducting and documenting site inspections and following up on previous inspections as required.
- Responsible for coordinating, executing, and documenting emergency response drills.
- Review existing, develop new policies and practices and procedures, and facilitate implementation as required.
- Responsible for maintaining up to date knowledge of legislative frameworks governing the workplaces, informing management of the impact of impending changes or adjustments, and requirements to become and maintain compliance
- Organize documents and otherwise prepare for, schedule and complete internal and external audits and/or action plans as part of COR certification maintenance.
- Obtain, review and file transportation carrier reports, inform management of status, and implement corrective action as needed to ensure scores are in a satisfactory zone.
- Responsible for implementing or ensuring implementation of all corrective actions and following up for all applicable areas.
- Receive, document, and file safety certifications for all company personnel, and notify when nearing expiry to avoid lapses in certification. Maintain a list of current links online, learn at your own pace certification options.
- Review, update and spearhead creation of existing, outstanding, and/or emergent Formal Hazard Assessments.
- Participate in and be a resource for company health and safety committee.
- Coordinate with Hiring Manager’s around emerging position requirements and develop, post and monitor position advertisements.
- Retrieve, review and complete initial screening of applicants.
- Coordinate and schedule interviews, prepare and communicate offer letters.
- Facilitate company onboarding process.
- Coordinate, schedule and document performance reviews.
- Act as a resource for management and employees on legislated requirements, ensuring company labour policies are current, communicating changes or adjustments.
- Act as an escalation point for employee questions, comments or concerns, providing feedback and discussing resolutions with management as needed.
- Collaborate on development and updating of company roles and responsibilities.
- Coordinate and manage company benefits program.
