Peaskie Minerals is a premier supplier of domestically sourced proppants and silica flour to the West Central Sedimentary Basin (WCSB). Our facility is located approximately 12 km north of Redwater or a 45-minute drive from north Edmonton.
Please note this is NOT a camp position. Candidates must live in the area or be willing to commute.
The Quality Control Technician performs a variety of duties associated with the testing of the different sand products being produced at the Opal facility. This position performs a variety of tests related to the sizing and material characteristics. The primary focus of this role is to ensure the safe and timely testing of sand to maintain the highest quality of sand product possible. The Quality Control Technician will receive daily direction from the Quality Control Manager.
· Collect samples to meet API and ASTM standards from the plant, pit and piles
· Complete Sieve, color and proppant testing as per API and ASTM standards
· Complete testing with the Laser Diffraction machine on Silica Flour samples
· Complete data entry of test results and send to all appropriate parties
· Keep immediate supervisor fully informed of all issues or matters requiring his/her attention
· Work all assigned shifts from scheduled start time to scheduled end time
· Participate as vital team member, and contribute towards the success of the organizations which may involve the provision of other technical and administrative support, as required
· Promote a team approach and maintain a dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather innovative ideas
· Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives

· Hazard Assessment and Risk Assessment for the Opal Facility is contained in the Health and Safety Manual – Hazard Assessments
· Possess a high school diploma or GED
· Geotechnical technology diploma would be considered an asset
· Previous field experience in mine driving would be considered an asset
· Previous experience in a construction setting working around heavy equipment would be considered an asset
·Overtime after 8 hours per day AND for all hours worked if called in on a scheduled day off
· Travel allowance (dependent on location, and in accordance with company policy)
