Hours of Work: 40 hours weekly minimum, over-time after 44 hours
Based out of Lloydminster AB, Bonnyville AB, and Regina SK, Marksmen Vegetation Management Inc. and MVM Rail Inc. provides industrial locations with vegetation control. Reporting to the Mulcher Operator Supervisor, the Mulcher Operator is responsible for completing daily field activities by operating mulching equipment, vegetation equipment and other vegetation management tasks as deemed competent, in order to meet client goals and expectations. If the Mulcher Operator Supervisor is not available at any time, the Mulcher Operator shall report to the Operations Manager.
- Operate equipment according to manufacturer specifications, procedures and applicable legislation.
- Only run equipment which you are deemed competent and asked to run by your Supervisor.
- Performs daily safety and maintenance checks.
- Interacts with Supervisor for uninterrupted workflow, Does NOT interact with client or client representative regarding the job.
- Interacts with Supervisor with any conflicting schedules, days off needed, etc.
- Must clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, policies and procedures.
- Clear construction areas of debris and other hazardous materials prior to beginning a project.
- Operate communication equipment, such as 2-way radios, cell phones, in order to exchange necessary information with operations manager, and Operators.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as required including fluid and filter changes and parts lubrication. If there is anything wrong or requires to be fixed on the equipment being run, this MUST be reported to your Supervisor ASAP, so the repairs can be arranged, or a new piece of equipment brought to the job.
- Drive to sites via passenger vehicle.
- Operators must be physically fit enough to perform the job safely and efficiently.
- Ensure any paperwork needed for the job, if any, is done by 8PM the same day.
- Must sign out certain equipment to be used for the job, and are responsible for tracking, and for the care of the equipment, until it is signed back in. (ex. fuel cards, OHV, radios, GPS, etc.)
- Record keeping of safety documentation and application records.
- Complete daily inspections of company vehicles, and other company equipment that is required for the scope of work.
- Know, understand and follow all applicable Marksmen policies, practices and procedures
- Know, understand and follow all applicable client policies, practices, procedures and site-specific policies and procedures.
- Work in accordance with Marksmen HSE program.
- Comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and all relevant regulations.
- Accountable for following the client and Marksmen HSE policies and procedures to reduce incidents and damages.
- Work in a manner that will not endanger themselves or others.
- Report dangerous work.
- Report all incidents and follow proper procedures when incident occurs.
- Attend and perform in daily safety meetings, toolbox, monthly drills etc.
- Worker must be fit for duty, remain fit for duty, physically fit enough to perform the job safely efficiently.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned
- Class 5 Driver’s License
- All employees must pass insurance approval of drivers abstract.
- First Aid CPR A or CPR C
- H2S Alive
- WHMIS and TDG
- Wildlife Awareness
- CSO or CSTS or PST
- GPS location device experience
- Operating mulchers, skid steer, excavator, tracked equipment experience
