Keyera is currently seeking an Instrumentation Technologist to join the Maintenance and Reliability Team at Alberta EnviroFuels Facility (AEF) in Edmonton, Alberta .
The Instrumentation Technologist plays a key role in supporting safe and efficient operations through the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of instrumentation systems and equipment.
This is a contract opportunity , and the successful candidate will be engaged as a contingent worker through one of Keyera’s approved partners, working onsite at the Alberta Envirofuels Facility in Edmonton, Alberta.
- Conduct predictive, preventative and corrective regular maintenance on all instrumentation and controls equipment.
- Order parts, create work orders, and capture equipment history using Maximo CMMS
- Supervise onsite contractors, providing job plans, mentorship, and ensuring safe work practices
- Prepare and execute Management of Change (MOC) work packages in alignment with engineering, regulatory, and design requirements
- Provide job coordination support during facility shutdowns to ensure timely and effective execution
- Verify that all work packages and equipment settings meet manufacturer and engineering design specifications
- Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory standards, company policies, and environmental and safety protocols
- Support inventory management of critical instrumentation components to reduce downtime
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and other departments to facilitate project work and technical support
- Stay current with required training and certifications
- Demonstrate commitment to Keyera’s Cultural Behaviors and Corporate Values in daily work and team interactions
- Instrumentation Technologist Diploma with Journeyman Interprovincial Certification
- Minimum 10 years of post-certification experience in the oil, gas, or petrochemical industry
- Proven team player with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and operational excellence
- Experience supporting shutdowns and startups is considered an asset
- Familiarity or vendor training with the following systems and equipment is preferred:
- Maximo CMMS
- Yokogawa analyzers
- Metso, Fisher, Valtek valves
- Bentley Nevada vibration monitoring
- ABB 800xA DCS
- Modicon & Allen Bradley PLCs
- Ohmart nuclear devices
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions
- Availability for after-hours callouts as required
