We currently have an exciting opportunity for two (2) experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to join our team. Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Operations, the successful candidates will be responsible for executing site preparation, construction, and the maintenance and repair of slopes, ditches, and roads. May also be required to operate a variety of heavy equipment, depending on operational needs.
This is a full-time, safety-sensitive position based out of our Highvale (SunHills) site, located approximately 70 km west of Edmonton near Lake Wabamun. This role is covered under the terms of the Collective Agreement with the USW, Local 1595.
As this is a safety-sensitive position, successful candidates will be required to complete pre-employment testing.
- Operate heavy equipment in a reclamation mine setting
- Operate equipment in adverse weather conditions
- Haul truck, dozer operator experience
- Inspects equipment for possible repair and safety check prior to beginning each shift and at the end of each shift
- Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written)
- Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteously/respectfully of others
- Troubleshoot and problem-solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, compliance issues, etc.)
- Monitor and discuss compliance, and production-related issues with co-workers, supervisor, and engineering
- Minimum of (2) Years Heavy Equipment Operating experience is preferred
- Previous Open-Pit Mine or Reclamation work experience would be considered an asset
- Requires someone who is proactive, well-organized, and thrives in a challenging work environment
- The successful candidate will promote a high standard of safety in all activities while ensuring that assignments are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Ability to regularly and safely mount and dismount Equipment
- Ability to understand and follow mine safety and mine production policies and procedures
- Knowledge heavy equipment operations
- Ability to work in inclement weather
- Able to work a 4/10 schedule
- Able to constantly use good eye/hand/foot coordination
- Must be able to attend job reliably
- Managing/pumping water
- Basic mechanical understanding
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
