Summary
The HRIS Specialist plays a key role in managing and optimizing the organization’s HR systems to support efficient HR operations. This role is responsible for maintaining system performance, ensuring data accuracy and security, and supporting reporting processes and system integrations, and process improvements. Working closely with HR, Payroll, IT, Finance, and other stakeholders, the HRIS Specialist will troubleshoot system issues, support system enhancements and implementations, and deliver user training. This position also identifies opportunities to leverage automation, AI, and emerging HR technologies to improve HR processes.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Drive continuous improvement of HR systems by optimizing functionality, strengthening integrations, and ensuring effective system performance
- Troubleshoot system and user issues, providing timely and effective solutions
- Ensure the accuracy, quality, and integrity of HR data through regular audits
- Create tools and resources that improve HR workflows, reporting, and documentation.
- Manage HR system security and user access to ensure appropriate authorization and data protection
- Lead implementation and enhancement projects for HR systems and integrations in partnership with IT and external vendors
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Talent Acquisition, Finance, IT, Payroll, Onboarding, and Employee Relations to support HRIS needs
- Design and deliver training programs, produce user documentation, address escalated system issues, and enhance the effectiveness of UKG solutions.
- Keep up to date with evolving HR technology, including AI and automation, to drive continuous process improvements
- Post-secondary education in administration, business, or human resources
- Previous work experience in a Human Resources required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with UKG, including designing, developing, and implementing complex BI solutions, with strong knowledge of HR processes and data analysis
- Sound knowledge of payroll best practices and a solid understanding of Employment Standards legislation
- Knowledge of payroll modules is considered an asset
- Experience with Workforce Management (WFM) or timekeeping systems is an asset
- Hands-on experience with HRIS systems: configuration, reporting, and troubleshooting
- Skilled in designing dashboards and reports using data visualization best practices
- Experience in the energy sector is an asset
- Proficient computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office Suite including intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Excellent verbal skills to interact knowledgeably and diplomatically at all levels
- Experienced in dealing with confidentiality
