Supporting the Project Management Office, the Governance Advisor will help ensure Keyera’s PMO team is successful in enabling effective delivery of projects. As an advisor, you will work closely with senior leaders, project managers, engineering, business development, project controls, document control, and operations teams to uphold project governance standards, support gate reviews, and strengthen accountability across the portfolio. This role is Calgary-based with limited (<10%) site travel.
- Maintain and govern the use of Keyera’s stage gate Project Delivery System (PDS), including supporting project management and lesson learned processes.
- Support project kickoff and gate review facilitation to ensure decision quality consistency by identifying governance opportunities and risks.
- Develop, maintain, and implement fit-for-purpose practices, processes, and tools to guide the consistent delivery of Projects.
- Track and report on gate compliance, risks, actions, and variances through dashboards and performance metrics (KPI).
- Support steering committees’ reviews, ensuring key outcomes and lessons learned are documented.
- Promote cross functional alignment among engineering, project controls, and operations functions for consistent governance practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of governance tools, templates, and procedures to enhance project delivery discipline.
- Perform special projects and take on other responsibilities as assigned and agreed.
- Support PDS-related technology initiatives and improvements.
- Support site-based projects by leveraging PMO processes to strengthen the existing Management of Change (MOC) process.
- Facilitate audits of governance frameworks.
The successful candidate will be energetic, proactive, and enjoy collaborating with a broad group of stakeholders to dissect complex challenges, with the following qualifications:
- A degree or Diploma in Business, Engineering or a related discipline (other relevant education/experience combinations will be considered).
- Minimum 8 years of experience supporting projects in oil & gas, petrochemical, or energy environments. Knowledge of midstream industry is desirable.
- Professional certifications such as PMP, PMI-RMP, or AACE are considered assets.
- Strong working knowledge of Stage-Gate methodologies.
- Familiarity with both greenfield project development and brownfield modification considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of portfolio management, project controls, risk management, change management and governance frameworks.
- Proficiency with project management software and reporting tools.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma) applied pragmatically in project-delivery contexts.
- Clear, confident communicator - able to bridge technical and executive audiences.
