Are you looking for an exciting new career opportunity that comes with amazing opportunities for success and growth for your future? Morskate Manufacturing is actively recruiting a motivated Apprentice Journeyman (2nd & 3rd year) Field Welder/ Installer to join our dynamic team of professionals.
Reporting to the Director and Operations Manager, you will be responsible for fabricating and repairing equipment, structures and various types of metal objects in the field using an array of welding processes such as GMAW, GTAW and SMAW. If you are a reliable self starter with a strong work ethic, we want to hear from you!
- Maintain excellent attendance record
- Fabricate and repair equipment, structures and various types of metal objects using an array of welding processes such as GMAW, GTAW and SMAW
- Installation and erection of steel, troubleshooting installation and finding solutions
- Analyze drawings, and sketches to determine measurements, layouts and sequence of welding assignments
- Examine welds and surfaces to discover flaws to ensure they meet the required standards
- Must be able to grind and finish parts to specification
- Accurate use of square, levels, angle finder and other measuring tools related to specific area (Metric & Imperial)
- Operate drill press, grinder, power saw and other hand tools
- Safe operation of overhead crane and mobile equipment for material movement
- 1-2 years welding experience at minimum
- Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program or CWB certification an asset
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, procedures and practices
- Knowledge of materials and strong understanding of metals
- Good with numbers in regard to accurate measurements, checking drawings, and weights
- Must be physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand English clearly
- Possess problem solving skills
- Active participation in company safety program
- Follow safety protocol including wearing of required PPE and understanding and application of safety policies, procedures and practices

We offer competitive starting wages beginning at $25 per hour, with final rates determined by your experience, skill level, and how well you align with the role. We appreciate dedication and commitment, and we conduct thorough performance reviews after three months and annually to acknowledge outstanding work and support employee growth.
