Wood is seeking an experienced Electrical Heat Trace (EHT) Designer in Edmonton, AB to join our busy and growing Oil & Gas Canada team due to growth in our business!

- Applying extensive experience in heat tracing design and application through previous project work.
- Understand and implement the intricacies of zoning EHT circuits with appropriate power and control methodology with respect to both stabilized and control Limited EHT designs.
- Prepare heat tracing isometrics, panel board and cable schedules, wiring diagrams, Controller set point schedule, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and location plans.
- Ensure EHT Isometrics and designs are in line with the piping, instrumentation, mechanical information utilizing the latest P&ID, area classification & LDT while being consistent with the project code and IEEE515 requirements.
- Ensure power connection, RTD location, cable type and length, trace ratio, sheath temperature, heat loss and appropriate safety factor are applied for the EHT system design.
- Create and review drawings using Computrace software by Thermon and TraceCalc Pro software by Chemelex.
- Work on small to medium projects simultaneously where you will collaborate with other designers, engineers and project managers as well as utilize Blu beam redline markup. drafting technology and Thermon and as well as nVent heat trace design software to design heat tracing systems.
- Review of all project specifications and documentation necessary to develop a thorough understanding of the scope of work.
- Follow project requirements, along with expectations on quality, schedule or other restrictions of a technical nature.
- Follow established processes and procedures including Project Design guide, Project Execution Guide, Quality Plan and provide input where deficiencies occur.
- Visit site to obtain site data

- Minimum 5 - 10 years of preferably Oil and Gas related engineering experience in Electrical Heat Tracing with APEGA membership.
- Extensive experience in design applications in support of energy sector projects.
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical Design from a recognized technical institute or comparable industry experience.
- Thorough Knowledge of Electrical Heat Tracing System Design for piping, instruments and equipment using Thermon and/or nVent heat tracing design program with relevant products.
- Technically proficient in drafting drawings in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Advanced experience with MS Office skills
- Working technical knowledge of piping, equipment, instrumentation and insulation systems and components and understands relevant symbology.
- Working knowledge of P&IDs (Piping & Instrument Diagrams)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
- Able to generate new ideas, challenge the status quo, support change, encourage innovation, and solve problems creatively.
- Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to team members, supervisors, and internal/external customers.
