We are looking for a knowledgeable and experienced Engineer to join our Design Services team. As an Engineer, you will design, review and take professional responsibility for Distribution (15-25kV) and Transmission (25kV and above) engineering designs that are produced with established methodologies and specifications including codes and regulations. The Electrical Engineer will have a broad and strong utility design understanding and demonstrate experience with Alberta Electric Code and CSA standards. You use your expertise to identify system deficiencies, develop solutions to meet Edmonton’s increasing load growth and to adapt to grid transformation.

are accountable to the following key accountabilities (but are not limited to these):
- Authenticating engineering designs, standards, and specifications prepared by the individual, including recommending broader modifications and new approaches to design.
- Completing cable/TX life cycle replacement distribution designs, ordering material, work order issuance and approval, as well as field inspections and contractor management during construction and maintenance activities.
- Ensuring designers have the technical skills required to perform their work functions, developing and delivering engineering training to junior staff.

ecognizing and encouraging continuous improvement throughout the design team

- Acting as a subject matter expert on Alberta Utility Code, Canadian Electrical Code and CSA Standards.
- Independently liaising with customers, the Design team and project management groups for regular communication and feedback on work progress.
- Obtaining all required permitting and approvals necessary for construction including easement, Ministerial Consent, railway crossing, ULA, pipeline crossing/proximity agreements etc.
- Acting as a consultant to internal stakeholders and providing distribution

- A requirement of working for EPCOR is that you are at least 18 years of age, successfully attained a high school diploma (GED, or equivalent level of secondary education) and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
