Electrical & Instrumentation Technician – Grande Prairie, Alberta
Wage: $45.00 – $50.00/hour (based on experience)

We are currently looking for an experienced Instrumentation Technician to join our team in the Grande Prairie area. This full-time role is best suited for individuals with strong hands-on experience in flowback testing equipment and expertise in troubleshooting, calibration, and diagnostics. The successful candidate will work both independently and as part of a team at the GP office, in addition to traveling to client sites and ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient operation of specialized oilfield measurement and control equipment.
Perform calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of flow measurement and control devices, specifically:
Conduct flow proving for both water and gas meters to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Provide diagnostics and troubleshooting support for instrumentation, electrical, and SCADA-related issues.
Support system integration with SCADA, including setup, testing, and data validation.
Install, configure, and maintain measurement and process equipment to meet client and industry standards.
Utilize diagnostic tools and testing equipment to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
Accurately complete calibration certificates, maintenance logs, and service reports.
Travel to client locations across the Grande Prairie region as required.
Journeyman Instrumentation Technician certification is preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
3–5 years of oilfield experience, with strong exposure to flowback testing equipment and measurement devices.
Demonstrated expertise in EFMs, Barton meter calibration, flow proving, and SCADA systems.
Solid knowledge of fuel gas regulators and related well-testing equipment.
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills under varying field conditions.
General electrical knowledge with the ability to interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.
Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract.
Current oilfield safety certifications (H2S Alive, First Aid, CSO, etc.).
Technically strong with troubleshooting and critical thinking abilities.
Comfortable working independently and making sound decisions in the field.
Strong commitment to safety and industry best practices.
Competitive hourly wage ($45 – $50/hr, depending on experience).
