The Opportunity

Finance and Accounting Analystwho thrives in a dynamic environment and is energized by solving complex problems. You will be a trusted financial partner to operational and business teams, responsible for delivering accurate, timely financial information and driving clarity around results. You’ll also help identify efficiencies, support innovation, and contribute to evolving our processes to meet today’s expectations of excellence.
What You Will Do
- Serve as a trusted financial partner to operational and business teams by providing accurate, timely financial information and insights.
- Support capital and operating cost accounting across Canadian oil & gas business units, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Prepare and deliver regular and ad hoc financial and operational reports to support decision-making.
- Contribute to forecasting activities, including analysis of actuals versus forecasts and identification of key drivers.
- Support annual capital and operating budget processes, including preparation, tracking, and variance analysis.
- Perform core monthly accounting activities such as accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis (capital and operating costs), and month-end close.
- Act as a financial and technical liaison between accounting and internal and external stakeholders, including operations, land, joint ventures, regulatory bodies, and auditors.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives such as ERP and system enhancements, process integration, workflow improvements, and acquisition/divestiture support.
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, cost drivers, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance financial processes, controls, and reporting effectiveness.- 5+ years of progressive experience in oil & gas accounting with strong applied knowledge of industry financial processes.
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation (or working toward) is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of capital and operating cost accounting and forecasting in a Canadian oil & gas environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with analytics tools such as Power BI.
- Experience with SAP (oil & gas modules) or the ability to quickly learn new financial systems and digital tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and provide clear insights.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build strong working relationships.
- Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information for diverse audiences.
