In preparation for upcoming projects we have immediate opportunities for Second Cook's. Reporting to the Camp Chef or First Cook, the Second Cook plays a key role in meal preparation and kitchen operations. You will assist in preparing meals for camp residents while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and quality. This role requires flexibility, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.
- Assist in preparing and cooking a variety of hot and cold meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and grab-and-go) for large groups
- Support daily food prep tasks such as chopping fruits and vegetables, preparing salads, sauces, baking, and assembling meals
- Monitor food quality, portion sizes, and presentation
- Follow safe food handling procedures and ensure all sanitation standards are met (HACCP compliant)
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, food prep areas, and workstations
- Support inventory control by rotating stock, minimizing waste, and reporting shortages
- Work collaboratively with the culinary team to meet service timelines
- Assist with dishwashing and general camp cleaning duties when required.
- Ensure compliance with all company and client safety protocols. Daily participation in safety requirements and meetings.
- Minimum 1–2 years of cooking experience in a high-volume kitchen; camp or, institutional cooking experience is preferred
- Food Safe Level 1 certification (or provincial equivalent) required
- Knowledge of HACCP procedures and occupational health and safety standards
- Ability to work in a remote camp setting, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- A team-first attitude
- Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and background check
- Minimum 1-3 years experience
- Remote camp experience preferred
- Literate in English language with reading and writing competency
- Valid Food Safe Level 1
- First Aid certification preferred
- Remote camp setting with extended stays on-site (e.g., 28/14 rotations).
