- Oversee Receiving, labeling and safely storing samples to be tested
- Determining and performing tests needed for the analysis and report based on permit requirements.
- Recording tests and analyses and then reporting the results
- Discussing and answering any questions regarding the results
- Familiarize with all processes and facility Waste Analysis Plan
- Provide treatment guidance and follow final disposal requirements
- Organizing and storing samples in accordance with all safety and other requirements to ensure the safety of personnel and integrity of the sample
- Cleaning and maintaining lab equipment, including recalibration of equipment
- Maintaining equipment records and daily work logs
- Manage and train lab technicians
- Staying current on technical and scientific advances in their field
- Perform other related duties as needed or assigned.
- Bachelor of Science or 5 years in laboratory management.
- Detail oriented
- Ability to read and comprehend EPA methods and regulations.
- Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Ability to use a database.
- Ability to troubleshoot laboratory instruments.
- Good communicator. Customer, Vendors, Staff.
- Metallurgy knowledge a plus.
- RCRA knowledge.
- Ability to give phone support to staff offsite.
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
- Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
- Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
- Must be able to work in cold/hot environments and on concrete floors.
- Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
- Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
- The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- The worker is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.
- The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system: Fumes, odors, dust, mist, gases, or poor ventilation.
- The worker is subject to fluids: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other fluids
- The worker is required to wear a respirator.
- The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.
