Take your engineering career to the next level with Inframark! We’re looking for a Project Engineer Designer in Hampton, VA to manage, design, and support instrumentation and control (I&C) systems for water, wastewater, and industrial projects. You’ll work across control panels, instrumentation, PLCs, networks, and compliance standards while contributing to projects that make a real impact in the communities we serve.
The starting salary is $85,000-$120,000 per year depending on experience.
Travel: This is a full-time role with ~20% travel for site visits and customer meetings.

- Design and document field instrumentation, control panels, networks, and security systems, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and seamless integration across all project components.
- Create P&ID and ISA loop drawings while coordinating AutoCAD drafting efforts to produce high-quality, detailed design documents that meet project specifications.
- Conduct site visits to thoroughly assess conditions, evaluate equipment requirements, and provide direct support for installation and implementation.
- Lead the preparation of project submittals, oversee testing and startup documentation, and develop comprehensive O&M manuals to ensure successful project delivery.
- Collaborate closely with vendors, Procurement, and project teams to deliver reliable, cost-effective solutions that align with both client needs and project budgets.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to support proposals, cost estimates, and sales efforts, contributing to accurate bidding and strong client relationships.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Computer Engineering (preferred).
- Experience with instrumentation, control panel design, or networking.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Underwriters Laboratories (UL), and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.
- Experience with P&ID, Electrical, and ISA loop drawings required.
- Experience managing, designing, and developing comprehensive instrumentation and control (I&C) system designs for projects in the water and wastewater industry.
- Proficient in understanding both water treatment and wastewater treatment processes.
- Proficient in identifying equipment requirements within the water and wastewater industry.
- Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time.
