The Reservoir Development Engineer will play a key technical role in optimizing Formentera’s diverse asset portfolio, spanning both conventional and unconventional reservoirs. This role combines strong subsurface expertise, data-driven problem solving, and development planning across mature and emerging assets. The successful candidate will integrate field development planning, surveillance, and secondary recovery optimization while leveraging technology and automation to enhance workflow efficiency, support base production, and enable data-driven decision making.
• Lead reservoir development planning by working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to optimize development programs across Formentera’s asset base.
• Integrate analytical results into development planning and economic evaluations to support strategic decision making.
• Lead development and production optimization efforts across both conventional and unconventional assets by integrating performance surveillance, reservoir diagnostics, and technical evaluations to maximize production, recovery, and capital efficiency.
• Implement and monitor secondary recovery (waterflood) strategies by designing surveillance systems, monitoring pattern performance, and recommending optimization actions.
• Conduct development lookbacks and incorporate learnings into forward planning efforts.
• Prepare and present well-level and project-level economics for development opportunities, workovers, and optimization projects.
• Support budgeting and forecasting through economic modeling and scenario analysis.
• Assist with reserves evaluation and contribute to type curve generation and maintenance.
• Develop and enhance technical tools and workflows to streamline data analysis, improve efficiency, and standardize processes across assets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve data accessibility, integrity, and integration into decision-making workflows.
• Leverage analytics and visualization tools to identify key performance drivers and benchmark well performance.
• Communicate technical findings, risks, and recommendations clearly and effectively to management and partners
• Ability to integrate geological, engineering, and economic data for decision-making
• Excellent communication and presentation skills—able to translate technical analyses into actionable recommendations
• Collaborative team player with a proactive and adaptable approach
• Focused on innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
• Bachelor of Science in Petroleum, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
• 5+ years of relevant experience with an oil and gas operator.
• Exposure to both conventional and unconventional reservoir development and support.
• Proficiency in RTA, DCA, and economic modeling tools (ComboCurve, ARIES, or PHDwin)
• Strong command of analytical and visualization platforms (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Spotfire)
• Demonstrated ability to apply technology-driven solutions to streamline workflows and enhance analysis
• Experience with Central Basin Platform (CBP) reservoirs or similar conventional systems
• Experience with waterflood design, monitoring, and optimization
• Exposure to reserves management and reporting processes
• Familiarity with database management, automation tools, and data analytics applications
• Experience integrating analytical and simulation-based results into development planning
Physical Requirements: (with or without reasonable accommodation)
• This is largely a sedentary role. The employee is regularly required to talk or listen, and frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle objects, and reach with arms. Close visual acuity is needed for viewing a computer, reading, transcribing, and analyzing data.
• Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds
• Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard
