Toshiba America Energy Systems Corporation is a service industry provider primarily focused on the utility and industrial power generation markets. The position of Assembly Technician I is responsible for assisting in performing work on mechanical or electrical apparatus associated with large generation equipment. The duties of an Assembly Technician I will include, but is not limited to the disassembling, cleaning, refurbishment, manufacturing, winding and reassembly of stationary and rotating power generation equipment. The work of an Assembly Technician I will occur under the direct supervision and/or combination with experienced technicians working from engineering drawings, specifications and procedures.
- Learn, retain, and demonstrate adherence to company safety practices and policies.
- Report to the assigned working shift and adhere to all break schedules.
- Conduct oneself in a respectful manner at all times.
- Perform all shop related tasks, in any assigned department under direct oversight and assist in whatever capacity that is required to complete jobs within a prescribed time.
- Perform all assigned basic disassembly and assembly-related operations using measuring equipment, hand tools and/or power tools.
- Complete all assigned tasks, following verbal and written direction, company processes and procedures, without deviation.
- Assist with the safe operation of jib cranes and overhead bridge cranes.
- Learn, retain and demonstrate safe operation of sit-down and stand-up forklift with lifting capacities up to 10,000 pounds.
- Learn, retain and demonstrate safe operation of small and medium blast booth cabinets.
- Available to work scheduled extended weekday hours and weekend hours to support production needs.
- Travel is possible, to support field service activities, but is not required.
- 0 to 2 years of experience, within a service shop atmosphere.
- Mechanical aptitude to demonstrate the ability to perform basic disassembly and assembly.
- Ability to use various hand tools and operate power tools (i.e. drills, grinders).
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations (add/subtract/multiply/divide, fractions, convert decimal to fractions and vice versa).
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Ability to use and interpret basic measuring tools such as scales and tape measures.
- HS Graduate or Equivalent Education
- Trade schooling preferred
