Messer operates a world class fleet equipment upfitting and refurbishment center in scenic Chattanooga, TN. Due to continued growth at the facility, the position of Systems Assembly Technician is currently open.

- Complete assigned work tasks involving Messer’s fleet of class 8 tractors and trailers, primarily focused on:
- Tractor hydraulics system rebuilds
- Tractor upfitting kit assembly
- Tractor upfitting
- installation of power take offs, hydraulic systems, decals and telematics devices
- Programming of tractor parameters using OEM calibration software
- Trailer refurbishment processes as needed/ time available
- Work a 45 hour week minimum, per DOT guidelines
- Ability to keep track of and post working time on multiple projects throughout the day as required
- Demonstrated ability to lift at least 50 lb.
- Demonstrated aptitude in:
- Hydraulic assembly
- Electrical assembly
- Mechanical assembly
- Kit assembly
- Painting
- Decaling
- Documentation
- Own and be willing to use onsite a set of basic maintenance/technician tools
Skills, Capabilities, & Experience that will set you apart, above other candidates:
- A strong mechanical aptitude, with a high degree of pride in quality of work and craftsmanship
- Familiarity with commercial vehicle systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, wiring, etc.), and tractor OEM systems and diagnostic software experience a plus
- Ability to read, understand, and create vehicle systems documentation a plus (hydraulic diagrams, electrical diagrams, prints/drawings)
- High school diploma, GED
- 2 years prior experience as a fabricator, mechanic, electrician, or other trade a plus
- Prior vehicle technician experience a plus
- Ability to TIG weld a plus
- Class A CDL a plus
- Mechanic/trade school certification or other higher level education preferred
