As a Vertical Turning Lathe & Vertical Boring Mill operator, you'll be at the heart of our manufacturing process. You'll be responsible for precisely machining components while operating and supervising CNC equipment to ensure all parts meet strict quality standards and timelines. With minimal direction, you'll take ownership of your workflow, setting up machines, selecting the right tools, and making necessary adjustments. Your work will directly support our dedication to continuous improvement initiatives, including Six Sigma, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing.
- Set up and operate CNC machines, including installing components, tooling, and programs, and adjusting settings for turning, drilling, and milling operations.
- Inspect and measure finished products to ensure quality standards are met; assist with cleaning and deburring tasks.
- Load and unload components from machines and support crane operations as needed.
- Cross-train on other CNC Vertical Boring Mills (VBMs) to support workload demands across the area.
- Use various tables and fixtures to operate machines efficiently and safely.
- Interpret blueprints and CAD files, calculate dimensions and tolerances, and use precision measuring tools to ensure accurate production.
- Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED required, with at least 3 years of CNC machining experience or a combination of education and technical training (e.g., mechanical degree, apprenticeship, certificates).
- Hands-On & Detail-Oriente d: Enjoys working with hands and demonstrates outstanding attention to detail.
- Mechanical & Analytical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, analytical thinking, and proven math and communication abilities.
- Independence & Digital Proficiency: Able to work independently with strong digital literacy and a high level of precision.
- Technical Expertise: Skilled in adjusting machine settings, changing tools, and interpreting G-Code & M-Code to meet blueprint specifications.
- Certifications & Preferences: Silver National Career Readiness Certificate required; Siemens or Fanuc controls knowledge preferred.
