The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing, tracking, and controlling costs related to production, inventory, and operations. This role supports management decision-making by providing accurate cost data, variance analysis, and recommendations to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Develop, maintain, and analyze standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead
- Perform cost variance analysis and investigate discrepancies
- Monitor inventory valuation and cost of goods sold (COGS)
- Prepare cost reports, budgets, and forecasts
- Support month-end and year-end close processes related to costing
- Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to improve cost controls
- Assist with product pricing, margin analysis, and profitability studies
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Support audits by providing cost-related documentation and explanations
- Reconciling RNIs (Received not Invoiced).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in cost accounting or manufacturing accounting (preferred).
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory management.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with standard costing, variance analysis, and budgeting.
- Experience in manufacturing or distribution environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
