Job Title: Manufacturing Welder Helper Department: Production / Fabrication Reports To: Welder / Welding Supervisor
Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Welder Helper assists welders and fabrication staff in the preparation, assembly, and completion of welded products. This role supports welding operations by gathering materials, setting up work areas, maintaining tools and equipment, and performing basic tasks under the direction of a skilled welder.
- Assist welders by preparing materials, tools, and equipment for welding operations.
- Move and position parts, materials, and assemblies as directed.
- Hold, clamp, or align parts during welding and fabrication processes.
- Clean weld joints, remove slag, and perform basic grinding and finishing tasks.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Load and unload materials using forklifts, cranes, or other material-handling equipment (with proper training/certification).
- Inspect materials for defects or damage prior to welding.
- Follow safety procedures, wear appropriate PPE, and adhere to company policies.
- Assist in routine maintenance and cleaning of welding equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or welder.
- Previous manufacturing or welding shop experience a plus, but not required.
- Ability to read and understand basic work instructions and safety guidelines.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced welders.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Dependable and punctual.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, industrial environment.
- Manufacturing shop setting with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and fumes.
- Requires use of personal protective equipment including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
