Are you a senior PE-licensed water/wastewater leader ready to shape a regional practice across one of the most complex and well-funded water markets in the country?
This is an opportunity to step into a Practice Lead role with genuine authority within a nationally respected water consultancy delivering mission-critical municipal, state, and utility infrastructure across the Washington–Baltimore metropolitan region.
- Lead and grow a well-established water/wastewater practice serving DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia
- Balance technical leadership, people development, and client strategy
- Influence hiring, mentoring, delivery standards, and succession planning
- Serve as a trusted advisor to utilities, authorities, and public-sector leaders
- Operate in a hybrid environment with autonomy expected at leadership level
- Shape the next generation of Project Managers, technical specialists, and practice leaders
- Progress toward regional, discipline, or executive leadership roles
- Providing strategic oversight of municipal and utility water/wastewater programs, including treatment, conveyance, regulatory compliance, and resilience initiatives
- Leading multiple Project Managers and senior technical teams across concurrent capital programs
- Setting and maintaining technical standards, QA/QC processes, and delivery frameworks
- Partnering with clients on capital improvement programs (CIPs), regulatory strategy, and long-range planning
- Supporting business development through trusted client relationships, pursuits, and strategic growth initiatives
- Mentoring senior engineers and PMs as part of a structured leadership succession plan
- Collaborating with regional and national leadership on resourcing, investment, and practice strategy
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (MD, DC, or VA — or obtainable)
- 15–25+ years of experience in water/wastewater or water resources engineering- Proven experience leading practices, large programs, or multi-disciplinary teams within a consulting environment
- Strong credibility with municipalities, authorities, utilities, and public-sector stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (Master’s preferred)
- Ability to balance technical excellence with people, client, and business leadership
