JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Auto De-manufacturing Laborer

Facility: Windsor, CO

Reports to: Yard Supervisor / Facility Manager

Date: March, 2025

Summary

Assists in the process of prepping vehicles for further processing through shredding operation.

- Inspects equipment to ensure it is safe and in working condition

- Drains all liquids in vehicles to appropriate receptacles

- Removes mercury switches & puts in appropriate receptacles

- Assists in placing vehicles within the facility for auto de-man processing and upon completion for further processing thru shredder

- May use power and hydraulic tools to remove auto parts

- Assists in cleaning and maintaining de-man area and equipment

- Removes tires and rims

- Removes battery and stores in appropriate location

- Removes catalytic converter and places in designated bin. May transfer bin when full to other location within facility

- Observes vehicle and removes any nonconforming materials such as tanks, fire extinguishers, solids, etc. Places nonconforming materials in designated locations

- May operate forklift

- Performs basic maintenance on machinery

- Follows all safety and environmental processes

- May assist in laborer level work within other areas of facility

- Other responsibilities as assigned

Safety:

Must wear all necessary PPE while working, or while in the yard. Follows company safety standards at all times. Failure to follow safety standards, may result in loss of position.

Requirements:

Prior automotive experience and/or salvage yard experience preferred. Prior experience operating equipment including forklifts, wheel loaders, bobcats, etc. is a plus. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30-50 lbs and 100+lbs on 2-person lift.

If role involves help with facility incoming material inspection, must be able to effectively interact with customers and vendors. Individual must be willing to learn, be adaptable and be self-motivated.
