Position Summary:
Tacten is currently recruiting for JP CWB Structural Welders to join our project team in Fernie BC. If you are seeking a dynamic industrial environment with opportunities for individual growth and learning, this is for you.

•Salary is CA$47.50/hr to CA$54.50/hr. based on qualifications and certifications
•Candidates must be able to legally work in Canada
•Position require local candidates or willing to relocate
Responsibilities:
•Perform welding tasks using SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW processes to weld structural components per engineering specifications and industry standards.
•Weld in various positions—flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead—ensuring strong, high-quality welds that meet project requirements.
•Read and interpret welding procedure specifications (WPS), blueprints, and technical drawings to determine material requirements and assembly instructions.
•Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, cutting, and fitting components.
•Set up, calibrate, and maintain welding equipment to ensure proper functionality and safe operation.
•Inspect welds for defects, measure dimensions for compliance with CWB standards, and perform necessary repairs or rework as required.
•Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) such as visual inspection, dye penetrant, and magnetic particle testing when required.
•Adjust welding techniques as needed to correct defects and maintain high-quality workmanship.
•Follow all workplace safety regulations, including proper use of PPE, safe handling of welding equipment, and adherence to industry codes such as CSA W47.1 and W59.
•Comply with CWB standards, industry regulations, and company policies to ensure high-quality and safe welding practices.
Requirements:
•Journeyman Welding Certification or Registered Apprentice required
•CWB SMAW all position certification required
•IRATA Level 1 required or willingness to obtain
•All safety certifications as per required by provincial legislation
•Candidates must be local to Fernie and/or Sparwood BC area or willing to relocate
