Senior Fabricator – Caliper Studio (Bushwick, Brooklyn)

Caliper Studio is a custom architectural metal fabrication shop in Bushwick specializing in high-end, complex, and design-driven projects. We are seeking an experienced Senior Fabricator to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who excels in precision metalwork, thrives in a collaborative workshop, and can take ownership of projects from concept through completion.

Responsibilities

- Lead fabrication of custom architectural metal components in carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and bronze

- Operate fabrication equipment including cold saws, band saws, flame-cutting tools, drills, taps, and sanding/finishing equipment

- Perform high-quality TIG, MIG, and Stick welding

- Execute advanced fit-ups, fabrication layouts, and complex assemblies

- Read, interpret, and question shop drawings; collaborate with designers/engineers to resolve details

- Maintain a high standard of craftsmanship, accuracy, and quality control

- Mentor junior fabricators and support collaborative workflows

- Communicate clearly and professionally with project managers, team members, and installers

- Assist with on-site installations as required

Qualifications

- Extensive professional experience in architectural or custom metal fabrication (senior-level)

- Mastery of welding processes (TIG, MIG, Stick) across multiple metals

- Strong understanding of fabrication sequencing, tolerances, dimensioning, and layout

- Ability to fabricate independently with minimal supervision

- Demonstrated ability to incorporate feedback and adapt to evolving project requirements

- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

- Ability to lift, move, and handle materials associated with metal fabrication

- Experience with architectural installations is a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00 - $42.00 per hour
