About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Drilling Fluids Engineer to support operations in the Permian Basin. This is a local drive-by consulting role and does not include housing or lodging. Candidates must already live in the area and have the ability to work independently while providing consistent, professional support.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge of drilling fluid systems with excellent reporting, communication, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

- Monitor and maintain drilling fluid properties to ensure well performance, wellbore stability, and hole cleaning efficiency.

- Perform daily mud checks, track inventory, and adjust systems as needed.

- Deliver accurate and detailed daily reporting on drilling fluid performance, costs, and operational updates.

- Maintain clear and timely communication with company representatives, rig supervisors, and office teams.

- Troubleshoot and resolve drilling fluid challenges in real time.

- Utilize Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite tools for documentation, cost tracking, and reporting.

- Ensure compliance with company, client, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer.

- Must be local to the Permian Basin (housing and per diem are not provided).

- Strong background in oil-based, water-based, and specialty mud systems.

- Exceptional reporting and communication skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.

- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
