This position will join the initial startup team that will be working on commercialization of technologies from the University of California, Berkeley. This position will focus on the design and scale up of systems that improve their overall performance in adsorbing/desorbing water vapor and CO2.
- Design, configure, and maintain electrical systems for industrial machinery.
- Select and specify appropriate hardware components such as breakers, relays, and wiring.
- Perform electrical installation and troubleshooting as needed.
- Integrate and operate equipment including vacuum pumps, water pumps, motors, thermocouples, solenoid valves, compressors, and other actuator and sensor elements.
- Work with and report to the head of Product Engineering to achieve the department goals of scaling up commercial-grade atmospheric water and CO2 capture technology.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support system development and testing.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and electrical codes.
- Document wiring diagrams, component specifications, and system layouts.
- Support commissioning and field testing of equipment.
- Provide technical support for ongoing maintenance and upgrades.
- Maintain an electronic notebook detailing all observations and measurements.
- Contribute to the intellectual property of the company by writing and participating in invention disclosures.
- Perform periodic reporting to management and participate in technical meetings.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- Proven experience as an electrician or in electrical system design.
- Strong understanding of industrial hardware components and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with machine operation and control systems.
- Experience with PLCs, automation systems, or industrial control panels.
- Hands-on experience with system integration and commissioning.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Worked with various electrical components such as motors, heaters, sensors, etc.
- Electrical, mechanical, system engineering experience.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Familiar with health and safety procedures in production.
