We are currently seeking 3 Procurement Leads to join our Commercial team in Sudbury. This is a permanent position.
We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Lead, Procurement to manage the sourcing of materials, equipment, and services with a focus on minimizing total cost of ownership (TCO) and integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices. The ideal candidate excels in cost analysis and data analytics, brings strong organizational and communication skills, and thrives in a collaborative, customer-focused environment.
- Lead Complex Procurement Initiatives: Manage high-value, multi-stakeholder RFP processes with shifting priorities, ensuring alignment across Finance, Operations, Legal, and Community teams.
- Strategic Sourcing & Contract Management: Develop and execute multi-year sourcing plans, negotiate favorable contract terms, and oversee critical path categories with significant spend portfolios.
- Advanced Commercial & Cost Analysis: Apply deep analytical skills to evaluate proposals, conduct Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) assessments, and optimize spend through scenario modeling and benchmarking.
- Supplier Relationship & Performance Management: Build long-term partnerships with key suppliers, drive performance improvements, and foster innovation and collaboration across the supply base.
- Risk Mitigation & Compliance: Ensure procurement activities comply with corporate policies, ESG standards, and regulatory frameworks, while proactively identifying and managing risks.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, project management, and operations to align procurement strategies with business goals and identify bundling/unbundling opportunities.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Present insights and recommendations to leadership, lead internal training sessions, and participate in First Nation partnership meetings to support inclusive procurement practices.
- Process Improvement & Innovation: Champion continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen), streamline procurement workflows, and contribute to departmental efficiency and cost control.
- Contractual Expertise & Dispute Resolution: Navigate complex contract modalities (EPC, EPCM, etc.), manage claims and change orders, and support resolution of disputes including arbitration and litigation.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Take ownership of workload, mentor team members, promote fairness and safety, and demonstrate a proactive, purpose-driven approach to procurement excellence.
- Bachelor’s in business administration, Commerce, Finance, Marketing, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Mechanical Engineering or similar fields of study required
- Master’s degree an asset
- SCMP Designation is an asset
- Over 10 years of experience managing end-to-end procurement functions for goods and services, including four years in progressively senior roles with leadership and strategic responsibilities.
- Proven expertise in the full procurement cycle, supplier relationship management, and people leadership across diverse categories and high-value contracts.
- Strong knowledge of procurement, commercial terms and procure to pay business systems.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Organized, self-motivated and ability to work independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent people management, development and talent attraction and retention
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, emerging growth environment
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deliver under strict deadlines
- Ability to interact at all levels of the organization including with senior management.
