The primary function of the Cost Accountant position is to accurately track, analyze, and report job costs for multiple jobs and all accounting at the gross margin level. The Cost Accountant will work with the Business Unit Lead and Project Managers to analyze and control job costs and support day-to-day operations.
- Set up job detail in the accounting system with accurate revenue and project type classifications
- Track, analyze, and report on job costs for multiple projects and ensure accuracy of financial data
- Partner with Business Unit Director and Project Manager to monitor actuals versus the as-awarded amount and identify cost variances
- Prepare detailed project summary reports, WIP schedules, and forecasts
- Assist with month-end close, including cost allocations, job specific entries, and accruals
- Reconcile costs to the general ledger and sub-ledger accounts and ensure accuracy of account coding
- Collaborate with Project Managers and cross-functional teams, including purchasing and operations, to manage cost control measures to improve efficiency and profitability
- Support Project Managers with change order reviews and submissions
- Prepare client billings, working with Project Managers, per contract terms and ensure accuracy of financial data, including cost plus billings and change orders
Ensure timely submission of invoices to clients
- Compile and generate reports, statistics, timelines, tables, graphs, and correspondence
Compiles, reviews, and analyzes data assigned by the Business Unit Vice President

- Bachelor's degree in accounting or five (5) years of relevant experience required.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
