Position DescriptionThe position is for a working supervisor and will be responsible for directing the maintenance team under the guidance of the Manager. Responsible to preform and oversee preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance for all stationary and mobile equipment, and other supporting equipment in the Pittsburgh division. The supervisor will be responsible for the health and safety of the team, perform corrective and preventive maintenance to equipment, machines, and all associated support equipment at the yard location.
Essential Job Functions
•Ability to perform preventative maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, and minor component fabrication.
•Perform Daily Hammer Maintenance and condition assessment of mill.
•Knowledgeable of the proper inspection, removal, installation, alignment, and lubrication of bearings, gears, belts, and chains.
•Able to troubleshoot and repair the following: electrical systems, hydraulic systems, various cylinders, valves, accumulators, pumps, and the numerous hydraulic fluids used in these systems.
•Diagnosis problems with equipment, document and communicate needed action to management.
•Oversee routine vehicle maintenance (fuel trucks, adjust brakes, fix lights and other small mechanical problems)
•Be active in maintaining an environment which fosters teamwork in order to meet department, plant, and corporate objectives
•Meet goals as established by the Maintenance Manager
•Supervise and schedule the activities of the maintenance personnel
•Knowledgeable in all aspects of basic hand tools and proper use.
•Knowledgeable in the use of safety practices.
•Perform assignments in a timely manner.
•Work autonomously or act as an effective team member, exhibiting good inter-personal skills.
•Learn and work in accordance with safety, environmental and security procedures and instructions.
•Operate heavy equipment as needed.
•Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
•High School Diploma/GED, AS degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance preferred.
•Minimum 2-3 years maintenance experience in an industrial environment required.
•Preferred experience or course work in maintenance principles and machine repair practices.
•Good mechanical aptitude and math skills.
•Strong analytical skills and background in mechanical systems
•Industry experience in scrap metal preferred
•Excellent written, organization and verbal communication skills
•Ability to work independently and prioritize
•Attention to detail and accuracy
•Language ability includes reading, writing, spelling, and the ability to orally communicate well enough to conduct normal business relationships, prepare reports, and interrelate effectively with suppliers, management team and staff.
•Demonstrates positive attitude and takes a proactive approach.
•Ability to adapt to change and operate in a fast-paced environment.
•Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools including: Excel, Word and Outlook.
•Ability to accurately document information in files, reports or other forms of communication.
•This position requires regular communication with Metalico Management.
